Lately, his focus has been on improving the graphics stack of Raspberry Pi devices, primarily contributing to the Mesa v3d OpenGL/ES driver on performance and feature development.

Chema is one of the founders of Igalia open-source consultancy, and was also an early member of GPUL, the A Coruña Linux Users Group established in 1998.
