As a DNS proxy with extensive support for DNS encryption protocols, DNSdist seemed like a very good choice for support DoT, DoH and DoQ on embeded devices running OpenWrt. This is the story of how we completely underestimated the challenges of the embedded world, and managed in the end to make DNSdist's footprint small enough to provide end-to-end, encrypted DNS service to your home.
